Chennai, Oct 6: In a shocking revelation, Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Saturday claimed that there was rampant corruption in the appointment of Vice-Chancellors for State-run Universities.
Inaugurating a conference on ‘Enhancing Quality Education’ here, the Governor, who is the Chancellor of all State-run universities, said several crores of rupees were involved in the appointment of Vice-Chancellors for varsities.
After assuming charge as Tamil Nadu Governor, I came to know that the post of Vice-Chancellors in State Universities was bought by shelling out several crores of rupees. ''At first, I did not believe it. But after I found it myself, I was painted about it and wanted to bring about a change'', he added. (UNI)
