Chennai, Sep 14: Tamil Nadu government on Friday announced Anna Medals to 128 police officers and other Uniformed Services personnel to mark the birth anniversary of late Chief Minister C N Annadurai.
An official release here said in recognition of the outstanding devotion to duty of the Police, Fire and Rescue Service, Prison Service, Home Guards and Finger Print Science Staff in the State and also to encourage them, Chief Minister’s Medals were announced and awarded on the occasion of Dr Anna’s Birthday on September 15, every year.
As per the announcement made by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami during the demand for grants for the Police department in the State Assembly, the Forensic Science Department Scientists would also be awarded Anna medal, from this year.
Accordingly, this year 100 police personnel from the rank of Superintendent of Police to the rank of Grade-I Police Constables, ten Fire and Rescue Service personnel from the rank of District Officer to Fireman, ten Prison Service personnel from the rank of Deputy Jailor to Grade I Warder, five Home Guards personnel in the ranks of Area Commander to Section Leader, two Additional Superintendents of Police from the Finger Print Science unit, and one Deputy Director from Forensic Sciences Department have been chosen for the “Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Anna Medal” in recognition of their outstanding devotion to duty.
The 128 awardees were eligible for a bronze medal and a lumpsum grant according to their ranks as specified in the Medal Rules. The medals would be presented by the Chief Minister to the recipients at a Ceremonial Medal Parade to be held later, the release said. (UNI)
