A second priest, among the four accused in sexual abuse of a housewife under duress, was arrested on Friday from his house at Kozhencherry.
Fr Johnson V Mathew, the third accused in the case, had moved Kerala High Court seeking anticipatory bail which was to be considered today. Earlier, second accused Job Mathew was arrested a day ago and his bail application will be heard on Monday.
Fr Johnson, who was taken to the Crime Branch office in Tiruvalla, has been accused of misbehaving with the woman in a car and also sending her indecent text messages.
The case pertains to the four priests seeking sexual favours from the housewife on her confession of having a relationship with a priest when she was a minor.
Earlier, the anticipatory bail application of three of the four priests, Jaise K George, Fr Abraham Varghese and Fr Job Mathews, was rejected by Kerala High Court two days ago and observed that there was prima facie evidence against them.
