Six workers of a steel factory have died on Thursday after inhaling poisonous gas from the factory at Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh.
The accident took place at 3 pm in the Gerdau steel factory located at Tadipatri in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. After inhaling the gas from the factory, 10 people fell unconscious all of a sudden. All of them were soon taken to the nearby hospital. Two of them died on the way and the other four while undergoing treatment. The condition of two others is said to be serious.
The reason for the gas leak is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, some relatives of the factory workers tried to barge into the steel plant soon after the accident news made the situation tensed at the factory. But the police removed them.
The steel mill, located at Tadipatri, belongs to Brazilian firm Gerdau, a leading producer of long steel in the American sub-continent.
