15 kindergarten kids locked up in basement

In a shocking incident 15 kindergarten kids were locked up in the basement of a private school in Delhi for failing to pay up their school fees. Nothing could be more bizarre for how are these tiny tots to blame because their parents have failed to pay the fees? The incident happened at Rabeas Girls’ Public School in the Hauz Kazi area of old Delhi.

The Headmistress of the school, Farah Diba defended the action saying that the basement was the usual place where the kids used to play. Then why lock them up from morning to after noon? There was hardly any ventilation in the room and only 2 of the ceiling fans were in working condition. With Delhi temperatures soaring, this is an unfair deal meted out to the youngsters.

The staff in the school confirmed that the kids had been locked inside and the door bolted from the outside. Images of the kids holed up in the basement have gone viral. Distressed parents have sought action against the school authorities.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has sought a report on this horrific incident at Rabeas School.

The parents have lodged a complaint against the school at the Hauz Khazi police station. The police have registered a case against the school under sections for wrongful confinement and Juvenile Justice Act. The police confirmed that 16 children had been confined in the basement.
