Senior politician and former Karnataka Minister B A Mohideen died here on Tuesday morning following brief illness.
Mohideen who was 81 had been suffering from age related illness in his hometown of Mangaluru and was brought to the city for further treatment recently. He was admitted to the M S Ramaiah Hospital where he breathed his last around 6 am on Tuesday, according to family sources.
The sources said that the body of the late minister would be kept in his residence here for a brief period to enable public to pay their homage and it will be flown to Mangaluru for last rites.
Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah joined other State leaders in recalling the services of Mr Mohideen, who was a close associate of late Chief Minister D Devaraj Urs.
He was recognised for his services by the Government by conferring the Devaraj Urs Award in 2016. Mr Kumaraswamy said in his demise the state had lost a veteran leader and offered his condolences to the bereaved family,ill: Statesman, leader backed by impeccable virtues. (UNI)
