Kerala High Court on Thursday ordered issuance of notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the State Government on a petition by superstar Dileep in the actor abduction case. Dileep filed a petition on Wednesday in the court seeking a CBI probe into the matter. The court posted the case to July 4.
Dileep, the eighth accused in the case, claimed he was framed by the police and he was innocent.
The Government in its counter argued that Dileep’s latest petition was part of delay tactics and should be rejected.
It felt that it was not for the accused to decide the type of probe and Dileep was trying to delay the trial.
The court, while posting the matter to July 4, proposed issuing notice to CBI and the State Government.
Early last year, Dileep sent a letter to the Home Secretary seeking reconstitution of the investigation team or issue order for a CBI probe.
Dileep was arrested on July 10, 2017, for his alleged role in the conspiracy hatched in the abduction of the actor on February 17, 2017, when she was bound for Kochi from Thrissur in a car.
According to the chargesheet, Dileep nursed a grudge against the actor and hired some, including prime accused Sunil Kumar (Pulsar Suni), to assault the actor and also film it.
He spent 85 days in jail before getting bail on October 3, 2017.
