Working President of the main opposition National Conference (NC) Omar Abdullah on Saturday alleged that in the past, security forces tied people to jeeps and paraded them around villages to deter protests, but now, they were driving their jeeps right over the protestors.
Taking to micro blogging site Twitter, the former Chief Minister said 'Earlier they tied people to the fronts of jeeps & paraded them around villages to deter protesters now they just drive their jeeps right over protesters. Is this your new SOP @MehboobaMufti sahiba? Ceasefire means no guns so use jeeps? '
He was reacting to a tweet by NC state spokesman Junaid Azim Mattoo, who wrote 'The images of a man being run over by a CRPF gypsy are haunting. The gypsy was attacked - that's a fact - yes. However, it's a failure of the local police in the area to have allowed a CRPF gypsy to pass through an almost 200 strong hostile crowd. Extremely unfortunate.'
In another tweet, Mr Abdullah said 'Instead of being outraged at the way a vehicle is used to drive over protesters these people are more interested in the registration number of the vehicle. Just to help with your ignorance most paramilitary vehicles are registered outside J&K.'
He was reacting to the tweet, which said 'What is Haryana police doing in J&K, may be on special mission”.
