A complaint has been registered against Minister Tanveer Sait, who is contesting from Narasimharaja constituency, for allegedly threatening a Reporter of an English newspaper here on Monday.

According to a complaint the reporter of the Times of India, Shivendra Urs was writing down the public opinion at NR constituency, when some followers of Mr Sait questioned his whereabouts and allegedly snatched his notebook and pen and took him to the Minister who reportedly threatened him.

Nazarbad police have registered a complaint against 12 people and are investigating. Meanwhile District Journalist Association held a protest on Tuesday condemning the house arrest of the Reporter.

The protestors, wearing black ribbons, alleged that such incidents are harming the functioning of the Fourth Estate of the Democracy. They alleged that it has become difficult for the Journalists to work freely with such growing incidents.

They called it as a threat to freedom of the Press and urged the authorities to take strict action against Mr Sait and followers. They demanded security for Journalists. President of the Association, C K Mahendra, and other members were Present. (UNI)
