A Rs.100 crore civil and criminal defamation notice is sent to Prime Minister Modi, BJP chief Amit Shah and BJP”s chief ministerial candidate Yeddyurappa by Karnataka CM, Siddaramaiah for accusing him of corruption. In his notice he has demanded unconditional apology from them or face demolition suit for Rs.100 crore.
Siddaramaiah has referred to the election campaign speeches of the three leaders in which they made “baseless, false and untrue remarks” about him. He has sent the notices through his lawyer and Congress MLC , V.S. Ugrappa. The notice said that all the parties had committed libel and offences under various sections of IPC.
The notice said, “You are called upon to cease and desist from making such statements forthwith and give an unconditional public apology immediately through electronic, print and social media in which the statement and advertisements have appeared. In the event you fail to do so, please note that you have rendered yourself liable to civil and criminal action and payment of exemplary damages of Rs.100 crore”.
