One more youth, who was injured in security force action on demonstrators during clashes that erupted after five Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants were killed in Shopian on Sunday, succumbed in a Srinagar hospital on Tuesday morning.
With this, the total number of civilians deaths in security force action in Shopian has risen to six.
Official sources told UNI that a youth, identified as Iqbal Ahmad Bhat -- who had received a bullet injury during clashes with security forces in Shopian -- succumbed at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital (SMHS), Srinagar.
As the news of the death of the youth spread in south Kashmir, instantaneous protests erupted at many places.
Meanwhile, life remained crippled for the third successive day on Tuesday against Shopian killings in Kashmir valley, where mobile internet and train service remained suspended as a precautionary measure.
Besides Bhat, five youths were killed and about 30 others received bullet and pellet injuries in security force action in Shopian on demonstrators who hit the streets after five militants of HM, including a top commander and Assistant Professor of Kashmir University (KU) turned militant, were killed in the encounter.
