Congress Govt in Karnataka indulged in dividing society on caste basis: Modi

Pennews

Addressing election meeting here on Tuesday, Mr Modi said that Congress leaders had already realised the 'bitter truth' that they will not come to power against and hence were sitting in air-conditioned room and drawing plan to attack BJP in the name on unfounded claims of malfunction of EVMs and it was the reason they lost the elections across the country.

Mr Modi said that the Congress leaders had failed to understand the preaching of 12th-century social reformer Basaveshwara which advised people to treat everyone as their brothers and sisters without considering to which caste they belonged to. "Instead it has become the practice of the Congress Ministers to divide the Society in the name of caste with only intention to stick to power," he said.

Without taking the names the Prime Minister alleged that three Karnataka Ministers had amassed wealth instead of working for the welfare of the people.Modi said that it was BJP which paid rich tribute to Basaveshwara by installing his photo in the Parliament for the first time during A B Vajpayee government. "Congress during its rule had never thought about it." UNI
