Soumya sent to judicial custody for killing 3 family members


The Thalassery JFCM court on Saturday sent Soumya into judicial custody till May 8 in connection with three murders of her family members here. Police produced her before the court around 1600 hrs and Magistrate Donald Sequera pronounced the order. Later, she was sent to Kannur Special Jail.

Police arrested Soumya on April 24 and produced before the court the next day. The court had sent her to police custody for three days for interrogation, following the plea filed by the Thalassery Circle Inspector K E Premachandran for questioning.

During questioning, she confessed of committing three murders -- her elder daughter Aiswarya (8) and her parents V Kamala (68) and K Kunhikannan (76) -- between January 21 and April 13, 2018. She killed them by lacing food with rat poison.

Soumya, divorced in 2012, was allegedly having illicit relation with a youth who prompted her to do the henious act. (UNI)
