Flying squads and surveillance teams formed to check Model Code of Conduct violations ahead of May 12 assembly polls in Karnataka have seized cash to the tune of Rs.31. 28 crore till today, apart from confiscating a host of other articles meant for distribution among voters enticing them to vote for various political parties.
A release from the Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka here on Wednesday said the seized articles included hand bills of both the Congress and the JD(S), vehicles, sarees, children garments, and crackers.
In all 20 First Information Reports relating to the seizures have been filed during the last 24 hours taking the total cases filed to 350 ever since the model code of conduct came into effect. (UNI)
