The ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu has lined up a series of events to celebrate the 70th birth anniversary of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Saturday, including launching of the Amma Two Wheeler scheme for working women.
A life-statue of Jayalalithaa would be unveiled at the party office in the city by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, in the presence of senior party leaders, Ministers, MPS and MLAs.
The statue was installed adjacent to AIADMK Founder MGR's statue at the party office.
After the statue unveiling, the AIADMK would launch 'Namadhu Amma', a Tamil daily, that would act as the official mouthpiece of the party.
The proposal to launch its own official organ was discussed at a meeting of the party last month after the existing 'Dr Namathu MGR' and 'Jaya TV' started by Jayalalithaa were controlled by the family members of deposed AIADMK leader V K Sasikala and her nephew and RK Nagar MLA T T V Dhinakaran.
