A woman died on Saturday evening in the unprovoked heavy firing by Pakistan and shelling of forward posts and villages along the Line of Control in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Pakistan in the evening shelled forward villages in Nowshera sector of Rajouri in which one Praveen Akhtar of Pukhrani died due to a bullet injury," police sources here said.

They said that exchange of fire was still in progress.

Earlier in the afternoon, Pakistan troops violated the ceasefire by firing in Khari Karmada area of Poonch.
