Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau under the CPI(M)-led Left Government in Kerala was protecting corrupt people and settling cases against them, BJP National Executive member and former State President V Muraleedharan said on Sunday.
In a press release, the BJP leader alleged that the anti-corruption agency has turned into an agency for hiding and reaching settlements in corruptions. Nearly 700 corruption cases were settled during the past 11 months, he said and alleged that corrupt people were left scot free violating rules after DGP Lokanath Behera took over the charge of the department temporally 11 months ago.
Pointing out the department's rule that vigilance director post should not be vacant for more than six months was also violated during this period, he said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who holds the portfolio, was responsible for the malfunctioning of the vigilance department. (UNI)
