Taking serious note on Director General of Police (Home guards) Surya Kumar Shukla's statement about Ramjanmbhumi, Uttar Pradesh government said that people in 'uniform' should avoid expressing such emotions publicly.

A video showing Shukla taking oath to construct Ram temple was viral on social media. UP government spokesperson and Power Minister Srikant Sharma said that Ram temple construction was wish of every common man but people in 'uniform' should avoid expressing such emotions publicly.

The Minister said Lord Ram was not the ideal of a particular community but of whole world. Historians said that invaders tried to destroy our culture but they failed in their efforts, Sharma said adding that Ram temple construction was sentiments of people of India.

Trail of comments was triggered after the video featuring DG Shukla went viral on social media. Many administrative and police officers reacted to the statement of DGP.
However, Shukla said the video was doctored and his statement was presented in wrong way. He said "The video was from the programme of Muslim community where it was discussed that the peace and harmony should be maintained at the matter of Ramjanmbhumi".

Shukla said "As per High Court orders the peaceful solutions to the Ramjanmbhumi dispute was discussed but it was presented in such way that we were talking for construction of Ram temple".
