Criminals gun down woman, her son in Meerut

Three criminals shot dead a 60-year-old woman and her son in broad daylight, a day before court hearing of the murder of boy's father here in Sorkha village under Partapur police station in Meerut district on Wednesday.

The incident was recorded in the CCTV camera in which the three criminals were seen firing at the woman from a close distance within seconds.

The three unidentified assailants pumped 10 bullets into 60-year-old Nichattar Kaur, who was sitting outside her house with another woman.

Earlier the criminals had shot dead the woman's 26-year-old son, Balwinder, inside the car while he was driving home.

The assailants were initially riding a bike. After the killings, the three fled on foot, leaving behind their bike.

The mother-son duo were scheduled to appear as witness on Thursday in the ongoing alleged murder case of the husband, Narender Singh, who was killed in 2016, said family members.

Police said prima facie the uncle of the deceased was the main suspect as he had animosity with the family over a land dispute.
