Pennews

It may sound incredible, but the change of government in UP is reflected in the fascination of Saffron colour to the new dispensation. Buildings, School bags, Information Diary of the state government, Police Station, et al are getting bright Saffron shade. What’s more CM Yogi Adityanath recently flagged off 50 saffron coloured buses. The love for saffron is such that even leaflets, towels, chairs. CM himself prefers to be draped in saffron clothes. Sometimes Yogi sports saffron tilak too.

The latest is the Lucknow Police Station. The 80 year old police station building has been given a saffron splash. The state government had to retreat in haste soon after painting the boundary wall of state Haj office saffron. When it became controversial and Muslim bodies, the Opposition and the Media took up the issue, the Estatedepartment gave the wall a cream coat very quickly.

After the state became saffron politically, one of the first buildings to get the saffron coat was LalBahadurShastriBhawan, housing the chief minister’s office in October last. Soon after he took over the reins of office, the façade of the state secretariat was painted saffron. Many other buildings may go saffron in the coming months, expectLucknowites. Soon the saffronisation of the buildings, buses and police stations may percolate down.
