The South Central Railway (SCR) on Saturday collected Rs 25000 as penalty from ticketless commuters at Mudkhed railway station.

According to an SCR official, the surprise ticket checking squad, which launched the drive in various trains and on the platform of Mudkhed, found that taking advantage of heavy rush, many free travellers were entering the coaches with heavy luggages, causing hardship to other commuters.
The squad also found that many hawkers were doing their business on the platform illegally.

Divisional Railways Manager Trikalagya Rabha appealed to the commuters to travel with valid ticket and cooperate the railway administration, Public Relations Officer Rajesh Shinde said here.
