Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has directed to initiate criminal case against Director General of Police, Jacob Thomas. The move against the top cop follows publication of autobiography by Jacob Thomas without obtaining prior permission from the state government.
Chief Minister has already issued instructions in this regard to the chief secretary and also the police chief. The police chief will charge the case against the senior police officer while the chief secretary will initiate departmental action.A three member panel, earlier authorised by the government to go into the publishing of the work by Jacob Thomas submitted its report to the Chief Minister. The three member panel in its report said Jacob Thomas had violated discipline and also service rules and that action should be initiated against him. The punishment could be up to two years' imprisonment or fine or even both.
Jacob Thomas has not been in the good books of the Chief Minister for the past several months.
