Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Admi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal today had an hour-long meeting over lunch with Tamil film star with political ambition Kamal Hassan at his residence.
Kamal later told reporters that he was honoured by Kejri’s visit. He was the first prominent politician to come calling. To reciprocate this honour, Kamal sent his youngest daughter Akshara to receive Kejriwal at the airport.
Media was barred with their meeting as it was over lunch However, press photographers and videographers were allowed to shoot for a while before the two got down to business.
Talking to reporters later, Kajriwal said he was a fan of Kamal’s. He particularly lauded Kamal’s stand against communalism and corruption, two evils which he said was bedevilling the country.
Kamal said he found the discussion quite useful and helped him under certain things. The reference was to Kejriwal’s experience in floating his own party after breaking away from the Movement against Corruption and coming to power as Chief Minister of Delhi.
Kamal has also been talking floating his own party. Like Kejriwal, he has started his active politics with a fight against the present corrupt AIADMK regime.
Describing the power struggle in Tamil Nadu as a game of throne, Kejriwal said there was a big political void.
This was Kamal’s second meeting with Kejriwal. He met Kejriwal in New Delhi two years ago in connection with a film shooting. Since then, they are believed to have been in touch.
This is the second high-ranking politician Kamal has met in recent months. Last month, he met Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Thiruvananthapuram.
