Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today advised the farmers not to get panick over Supreme Court favouring formation of Cauvery Monitoring Committee (CMC). He said that the State Government, which is against setting up of such Committee, will consult the lawyers who have been arguing the case and take necessary steps to protect the interests of farmers of the State.
Stating that the monsoon has failed for the third consecutive year in the state, he spoke in favour of some relief to the farmers following the late rains particularly in the Cauvery basin. He pointed out that most of the reservoirs in the state have not filled up. However Chief Minister expressed happiness over few small reservoirs like Kabini and Harangi were filled up. Still the major reservoir of Cauvery basin KRS has just reached 100 ft marks, but it was not enough, he pointed out.
