Jaitley: Kerala Police passive spectators to violence

Union Minister for Finance and Defence Arun Jaitley came out heavily against the CPM which heads the LDF government for the police being" passive spectators" to the political violence against BJP-RSS activists in Kerala.

Answering questions at a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram where he was on a visit on Sunday, Jaitley said the CPM being the principal ruling party could never shrug its responsibility for the political violence. Whenever CPM is in power, murder of its political rivals is on the increase, he added. All those annihilated since the present government assumed office are those belonging to Sangh Parivar. Needed today is the political will on the part of the state government to put down violence whoever be the perpetrators. But what happens on Kerala today is that the police remains passive spectators. This happened. Even when the state office of BJP was attacked. Police should be free, he demanded.

In reply to a question, the Union Minister denied that both CPM and RSS were equally responsible for violence. He also said those from CPM were welcome to meet him if they so wished. It is my duty to meet everyone irrespective of the party.
Jaitley found nothing wrong in the Kerala Governor inviting the Chief Minister to discuss the law and order situation in the state. Asked for his view on the RSS suggestion for President's rule in the state, Jaitley replied some views were expressed on this regard by certain people. "I have in my own words told what I have to say ".

Jaitley congratulated BJP state leadership for acting against those allegedly involved in the medical college scam.
