Jaitley condemns politics of annihilation

Hari S Kartha

Union Minister for Finance and Defence Arun jaitley who landed in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday visited the house of RSS activist Rajesh at Sreekaryam who was hacked to death last week allegedly by CPM workers. He also paid a visit to the house of another RSS worker Jayaprakash, at Sreevaraham, who was badly injured in an earlier CPM attack. Jaitley's visit has come as a morale booster to the Sangh Parivar and its workers in Kerala as the Union Minister declared the solidarity of the BJP central leadership with the cadres in the state.

Addressing a condolence meeting after calling on Rajesh's wife, mother and two children Jaitley alleged that CPM was pursuing politics of annihilation against political rivals in Kerala, especially against those belonging to RSS and BJP. He strongly condemned the political killings. Commenting on the cold blooded murder of Rajesh who had never provoked anyone, Jaitley said that even armies of enemy countries would never resort to such barbaric killing. He reminded the CPM leadership that they were expected to behave with added responsibility as they were running the government in the state. It is the prime responsibility of the state government to maintain law and order. A peaceful atmosphere is essential for the development of the state. The state blessed by nature has skilled human resources and high literacy. But if an atmosphere of terror and tension is sought to be created by the government in the state and the principal political party the land is doomed, he stated.

Arun Jaitley urged the state unit of BJP to ensure that the assassinated Rajesh's family was taken special care of. The Union Minister was escorted by BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan, former state president V.Muralidharan, O.Rajagopal MLA and other state leaders of Sangh Parivar.

In connection with Arun Jaitely's visit, CPM organised a dharna in front of the Raj Bhavan in which members of families allegedly attacked by BJP-RSS participated. The dharna was addressed by CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, and LDF convener Vaikkom Viswan.
