Kochi Metro Rail Corporation will initiate action against Congress leaders and workers who organised a protest journey on the recently opened metro.
KMRL however is yet to clarify what would be the action they intend to initiate. But sources in the Corporation said that those violating metro rules could be fined and also imprisoned. The mass journey by Congress leaders last week was in violation of the Metro Act 2002, sources said.The properties of KMRL were damaged as Congress workers thronged into the platforms. Also inconvenience was caused to the passengers. Most of the Congress workers had travelled by Metro without tickets, sources alleged.
The 'janakeeyayathra' was taken out in protest against the prime minister for not inviting former chief ministerOommenChandy to the inauguration of Kochi Metro.The yathra was led by OmmenChandy, opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala and KPCC president M.M.Hassan. Ramesh Chennithala had openly expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to metro authorities and the passengers.
