Chennai, Mar 2 : The yellow brigade, popular among the cricketing afficiandos of this teeming megapolis, was back with its usual roar ahead of the 11th edition of the IPL T-20 event. Local and crowd favourite and three time title winners and eight time finalists Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni started training at the historic M A Chidmabaram Stadium ahead of the cash rich league beginning later this month.
Having been out of action after India's close semi-final loss to New Zealand in the World Cup and amid intense speculations about his career, the 37-year-old Dhoni arrived here last night to a resounding reception by fans. As expected, Dhoni, popularly called as 'Thala' by his fans, started hitting the ground this evening, as he thumped the ball with his usual style.
He had a good session at the nets along with other CSK colleagues, even as a large number of spectators thronged the stadium to have a glimpse of their favourite cricket star. Dhoni was expected to train along with his teammates Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu and others till March 19, before taking a short break, before joining the league in the last week of this month.
CSK posted a photo of Dhoni's arrival into the city in its twitter handle creating a lot of buzz among its fans. Later, the CSK also posted a video of ''Thala MS Dhoni is back in action after a long wait of 264 days'' apart from photos of nets and training session of the CSK skipper. (UNI)
