Potchefstroom, Feb 9 : Bangladesh bowled out defending Champions India for 177 in the final of ICC U-19 World Cup at Senwes Park, here on Sunday.
Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal top scored for India with 88 runs off 121, while Tilak Varma (38 off 65) and Dhruv Jurel (22 off 38) also made useful contributions with the bat.
Avishek Das finished with 3 for 40, while Tanzim Sakib (2/28) and Shoriful Islam (2/41) grabbed a couple of wickets, to complete a perfect team performance for Bangladesh. Earlier, Bangladesh captain Akbar Ali won the toss and invited India to bat first.
Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Divyansh Saxena gave India a slow start, scoring 23/1 after 10 overs. India lost their first wicket in form of Divyansh Saxena in the 7th over. Tilak Varma came to bat next and he, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, rebuild the Indian innings after a slow start and an early wicket. The duo of Varma and Yashasvi slowly upped the ante and added 94 runs for the second wicket. Tilak Varma scored 38 off 65, before getting out on a slow pitch.
Indian captain Priyam Garg, who came to bat next, couldn't do much as he got out to only 7 runs. However, Yashasvi held the Indian innings together with the middle-order batsmen. He scored his fifth 50 of the tournament in 89 balls. Yashasvi and Dhruv Jurel took India 151/3 with 11 overs to go. But, Shoriful dismissed Jaiswal, Veer in successive deliveries of 40th over to bring Bangladesh back in the game. Jaiswal missed out on his second successive hundred by 12 runs.
India's innings completely disintegrated after Yashasvi's wicket as they lost 7 wickets for 21 runs at Potchefstroom. Bangladesh were outstanding with the ball as well in the field as they bundled out India for 177- 10 in 47.2 overs in the U-19 World Cup final on Sunday. (UNI)
