Srinagar, Feb 3 : Jammu and Kashmir has bagged 10 medals, including six gold and two silver, in Jeet Kune Do Federation cup held at Chandigarh from January 31 to February 2. The 11 states and Union Territory of J&K participated in the tournament.
Meanwhile, eight medalists have been selected to represent the country in the World Thai Martial Arts Games to be held from March 8 at Pattaya City in Thailand, Adnan Ayoub, Technical Secretary of J&K Jeet Kune Do Association, who accompanied the team to Chandigarh, told UNI. However, appealing for support from the government, the selected players said that the administration should sponsor their trip so that they can participate in the international event.
“The competition was tough, but our players performed extraordinarily and bagged 10 medals, including six gold and two silver. Eight of medalists have been selected for World Thai Martial Art Games in which players from different countries will particulate,” he said.
The players who have won gold medals in the event include Nasir Ali from Baramulla, Tajamul Gani from Bijbehara, Abdullah Irshad from Anantnag, Rasik Manzoor from Rawalpora, Sabir Aijaz and Anus Bin Yousuf from Natipora. (UNI)
