India has decided to participate at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) took a unanimous decision regarding the boycott call as they discussed shooting’s exclusion from the 2022 programme. “We have decided to send our contingent. There will be no withdrawal,” IOA general secretary Rajeev Mehta told the media with IOA president Narinder Batra in tow after the AGM today.
The development was a big relief for Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) President Louise Martin, who visited India in November to soothe tempers after shooting’s omission.
“The CGF and the entire Commonwealth Sport Movement are delighted India have confirmed their intent to participate at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games,” Martin said.
