Lucknow, Nov 28: Manav Suthar scalped five wickets as India Under-19 beat Afghanistan Under-19 to win the fourth Youth ODI at the Ekana Cricket Stadium B ground here on Thursday.

The win also helped India clinch the five-match series with a game to spare. India bowled out Afghanistan for 113 after winning the toss and electing to bowl. Skipper Shubhang Hegde gave India their first breakthrough as he dismissed his counterpart - Farhan Zakhil – for 23 in the sixth over. Mohammad Ishaq, who replaced Zakhil in the middle, was out for zero as Vidyadhar Patil struck in the seventh over. Rahmanullah and Imran, who top scored with 44 off 84 balls, added 28 runs together before Suthar scalped his first wicket of the match, dismissing Rahmanullah for 15. Afghanistan had a middle-order collapse as they lost five wickets for ten runs and were reduced to 99/9 from 89/4.

Chasing 114-run target, Kumar Kushagra and Divyaansh Saxena put up a 46-run stand for the opening wicket before Noor Ahmad trapped Saxena before the wickets. Ahmad, the slow left-arm spinner, added two more wickets to his account, but that was not enough as India managed to chase down the target with 21.5 overs to spare. The fifth and final game of the series will be played on November 30.

Brief Scores: India Under-19 114/5 (Kumar Kushagra 29, Sourav Dagar 24 not out; Noor Ahmad 3/34) beat Afghanistan Under-19 113 all out (Imran 44, Farhan Zakhil 23; Manav Suthar 5/19) by five wickets. (UNI)
