J&K Police Cop to accompany Indian Athletics team as manager for SAF games

Jammu, Nov 27 : Jammu and Kashmir Police Cop has been appointed as manager of Indian Athletics Team for the 13th South Asian Games to be hosted by Nepal at Kathmandu from December 1 to December 10.

An official here on Wednesday said that veteran Athlete of J&K and Inspector with Jammu and Kashmir Police, Sharat Chander Singh has been appointed Manager of the Indian Athletics team by the Athletics Federation of India for the South Asian Games to be hosted by Nepal at Kathmandu from December 1 to December 10.

He added that Mr Singh presently works with Sports Officer at J&K Police Headquarters.

Mr Singh has done Diploma in Sports coaching in Athletics from NIS Patiala and remained coach of the Police Athletics team from 2005 to 2017.

He is also General Secretary of J&K Amateur Athletics Association and has already been technical official in the 12th South Asian Games held at Guwahati and Shillong in 2016.

A native of district Kathua, as a veteran athlete, Sharat has won silver medal in 100 meters event in National Masters Athletics Championships at Swai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur in 2019.

Another gold in 4x100 meters and bronze in 4x400 meters events in the 9th Yuvrani Open National Athletics Championship held at Jammu. (UNI)
