Rio de Janeiro, Nov 26: Colombian forward Yony Gonzalez struck a second-half winner as Fluminense eased their relegation fears with a 1-0 victory at CSA in Brazil's Serie A championship.
Gonzalez on Monday put the visitors ahead with a 50th-minute header after connecting with Marcos Paulo's cross at Estadio Rei Pele in the northeastern city of Maceio. It was just the sixth time that the 25-year-old has scored in 31 league matches since joining Fluminense from Junior Barranquilla in January.
The result lifted four-time Serie A champions Fluminense to 15th, two points clear of the relegation places with four games remaining. CSA are 18th in the 20-team standings - nine points clear of safety - and are poised to return to Serie B in 2020 after just one season in the top flight. (UNI-Xinhua)
