Kolkata, Nov 22 : There was an air of anticipation as the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB)-orchestrated India's first ever Day-Night pink ball Test at iconic Eden Gardens commenced here on Friday.

The near packed stadium did not disappoint as Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee walked out to the ground to set the pink ball rolling literally for the milestone affair between India and Bangladesh.

They were accompanied by BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, BCB president Nazmul Hazan, CAB Secretary Avishek Dalmiya, Sachin Tendulkar along with other officials and dignitaries.

The entourage was welcomed to the ground by lusty cheers and a fussilade of flashbulbs as the lensmen went into overdrive capturing every moment as the ladies walked out to meet the two teams.

They were escorted by India and Bangladesh skippers Virat Kohli and Mominul Haque Shawrab respectively as the duo met the players of both the teams.

Thereafter they were taken to the lower tier hospitality box as the players took guard with 40 HIV+ kids for the national anthems of both the countries.

At 12.58 pm the Eden Bell was rung by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Shiekh Hasina along with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to signal the beginning of the 42nd Test match at the colosseum.

This is India's 540th Test and Bangladesh's 117th Test. (UNI)
