New Delhi, Nov 21 : India's star shooters with the likes of Manu Bhaker, Elavenil Valarivan and Divyansh Panwar fetched their maiden ISSF World Cup Final gold medals in women's 10m air pistol, 10m air rifle and men's 10m air rifle respectively in Putian, China on Thursday.
Earlier, on Wednesday, Manu missed by one point to qualify for the finals of the event in the 25m air pistol. However, on Thursday she came back strongly and became the second Indian to finish top in 10m air pistol in a World Cup Final after Heena Sidhu in 2013.
Elavenil Valarivan gold medallist 2018 ISSF Junior Cup improved her qualification ranking finishing on top of the podium with 250.8 points leaving behind Chinese Taipei's Lin Ying-Shin by 0.1 points. The Indian shot 10.6 and a 10.8 and 9.4 in her last attempt. While another Indian Mehuli Ghosh finished at 6th in the same event.
Divyansh Panwar the only Indian left in men's 10m air rifle, went past Hungary's shooting star Peni Istvan winning by 0.1 points to finish at top of the podium. Meanwhile, fellow countryman Yashaswini Singh Deswal settled at sixth spot.
In the men’s 10m air pistol event, Abhishek Verma and Saurabh Chaudhary, who qualified for the final, finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Shahzar Rizvi, also participating in the 10m Air Pistol event, was knocked out during the qualification round after he finished with 577. (UNI)
