New Delhi, Nov 20: Indian shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and Sameer Verma started on an impressive note at the Korea Masters Badminton Tournament progressing to round two beating their respective opponents in the men's singles event in Gwangju, South Korea on Wednesday.
Seeded sixth Kidambi edged out Wong Wing Ki Vincent of Hong Kong in straight sets 21-18 21-17 to wrap up the game in just 37 minutes.
With this win Srikanth has 11-3 career record against Wong. Now in round two he takes on Kanta Tsuneyama of Japan. Another Indian Sameer Verma's Japanese rival Kazumasa Sakai was retired hurt when the score read 11-8 and Verma was declared winner. Sameer faces Donghun in the second round.
While Sourabh Verma's campaign ended after losing in the first round to home favourite Kim Donghun 21-13 12-21 13-21. (UNI)
