Guyana, Nov 19: Brilliant bowling performances by spinners Anuja Patil (2/8), Deepti Sharma (1/8) and Radha Yadav (1/8) helped India beat West Indies by five runs in the 4th T20I, here at Providence Stadium.
In the rain-curtailed fourth T20 International which was reduced to a nine-over contest, West Indies won the toss and opted to field first on Sunday. In absence of rested Smriti Mandhana, India were off to a bad start as Hayley Matthews dismissed both the openers- Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues - within the first three overs, reducing India to 13/2.
Soon after Matthews picked the third wicket, sending back Veda Krishnamurthy for just five runs. From there on, India continued to struggle as Windies bowlers kept on taking wickets at regular intervals.
Pooja Vastrakar (10) was the only Indian player to get to a double-figure score, as the visitors finished at 50/7.
Hayley Mathews (3/13) scalped three wickets for the hosts, while Afy Fletcher (2/2) and Sheneta Grimmond (2/10) picked up two wickets apiece. In reply's to India's total, West Indies were restricted to 45 for five in their nine overs.
