New Delhi, Nov 16: The Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Friday announced their retention and release list ahead of the IPL 2020 auction.
The Bengaluru franchise has released the likes of Marcus Stoinis, Shimron Hetymer, Akshdeep Nath, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Colin De Grandhomme, Barman, Tim Southee, Khejroliya, Himmat, Heinrich Klaasen, Milind and Dale Steyn.
Apart from Kohli, the likes of De Villiers, Parthiv, Dube, Gurkeerat, Negi, Moeen, Chahal, Siraj, Umesh, Saini were retained by RCB. RCB had earlier brought in Mike Hesson from Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) as the director of operations at the franchise while Simon Katich was named the head coach.
Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders retained13 out of 24 players were from the last season. Siddhesh Lad was the only new signing ahead of the IPL 2020 auction that will take place on December 19 in Kolkata.
Players including Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa, Piyush Chawla, Carlos Brathwaite, Joe Denly, Nikhil Naik, Shrikant Mundhe, Prithvi Yarra, Anrich Nortje, Matt Kelly, KC Cariappa were released by the franchise.
While the likes of Sunil Narine (Overseas), Andre Russell (Overseas), Dinesh Karthik Kuldeep Yadav, Nitish Rana, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shivam Mavi, Shubman Gill, Lockie Ferguson (Overseas), Rinku Singh, Harry Gurney (Overseas), Prasidh Krishna, Sandeep Warrier were retained by KKR.
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad released five players including Deepak Hooda, Martin Guptill, Ricky Bhui, Shakib Al Hasan, Yusuf Pathan.
However the champions of 2016 season retained the core team including Kane Williamson, David Warner, Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Abhishek Sharma, Jonny Bairstow, Wriddhiman Saha, Sreevats Goswami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Sandeep Sharma, Siddharth Kaul, Shabaz Nadeem, Billy Stanlake, Basil Thampi, T Natarajan for the next season.
