Chandigarh, Nov 5 : Top seed Krishan Hooda and qualifier Shashikant Rajput advanced into boys singles quarterfinals of the CLTA-AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament at the Sector 10 Tennis Stadium here on Tuesday.
In boys under-18 singles. Krishan Hooda defeated Torus Rawat in a three-setter marathon match. After first set down Krishan came back strongly and won the second set 6-0 without conceding single game. In the final set both players played in a top form. Finally Krishan used his experience and used his big serve to close the set and match 7-5.
Qualifier Shashikant Rajput, another CLTA trainee, won from Vivek Kumar Dhaka 6-3, 6-0 in straight sets. Second seed Sushant Dabas and Nitin Jaipal Singh also advanced into quarterfinals.
Deep Munim caused a mild upset as he stunned fifth seed Bhupender Dahiya  6-3, 6-4,
Fifth seed Suryanshi Tanwar and Sanvi Ahluwalia moved Into Quarterfinals in girls under-16 singles. Suryanshi Tanwar overplayed against Maitreyi Phogat 6-0, 6-2 in a easy match. Sanvi Ahluwalia defeated Bhumi Kakkar in a one sided match 6-2, 6-1. Vaishnavi Adkar, Anoushka Sharma and Janani Ramesh also entered Quarterfinals.
In the boys under-16 singles Pre-Quarterfinals fourth seed Ajay Singh defeated another CLTA Trainee Gaurav Kumar 6-3, 6-4. Seventh seed Jitin Kumar Chetry won from Chahal Singh in a closed contestant marathon match 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. Girls under-18 singles and other doubles matches are in progress. (UNI)
