Chandigarh, Oct 31 : Ramkumar Ramanathan pairing with Mikhail Elgin of Russia upset third seeds Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan of India and Adil Shamasdin of Canada in straight sets 6-4, 7-6 (3) in one hour and 38 minutes in the doubles quarter-final of the 135,400 dollar Shenzhen Longhua ATP Challenger (China) on Thursday.
Ramanathan/Elgin served five aces and committed three double faults. They saved five of six break points and won two out of six breakpoints.
Nedunchezhiyan/Shamasdin fired three aces and committed five double faults. They saved four of six break points and won one out of six breakpoints.
Vishnu Vardhan of India and Toshihide Mastsui of Japan moved into the semi-final as they got walked over against French pair of Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul in quarter-final. Ramanathan/Elgin will now meet Vardhan/Mastsui in semi-final. Nedunchezhiyan/Shamasdin collected a cheque of 1600 dollars and 20 points. (UNI)
