Chandigarh, Oct 25 : The Sport department Punjab has decided to conduct re-trials of state's U-17 and U-21 hockey teams for the Khelo India Youth Games to be held in Guwahati in January next year.
A spokesman for the sports department informed that the trials of Under-17 boys and girls, which were held at SAS Nagar on October 18 now will be held at the Olympian Surjit Singh Hockey Stadium Jalandhar on October 30. Similarly, the trials held for the boys of U-21 on October 19 will also be conducted at the same venue on October 30.
Under-17 players should have born on or after January 1, 2003 and the player must be a student of a school or an equivalent institution. Similarly under-21 players should have born on or after January 1, 1999 and were studying in a college/university the spokesperson said. The sports department will give priority to the players who had won medals in district and state level sports during the trials, the spokesperson further said. (UNI)
