Pune, 11 Oct 2019: By completing another test century against South Africa on Friday, Virat Kohli has become the second-fastest Indian batsman, only second to Sachin, to score 26 Test centuries.
Kohli reached his century from 175 deliveries at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune against South Africa on Day 2 of the second Test. Kohli took 138 innings to reach the mark, while master blaster Sachin took only 136 innings. Overall, the Indian skipper is fourth-fastest to 26 Test centuries. Don Bradman holds the record reaching the milestone in 69 innings followed by Steve Smith who did it in 121 innings.
The 30-year-old also completed his 19th Test century as captain. He equalled Ricky Ponting’s tally of centuries as captain. He is only behind Graeme Smith who has 25 Test centuries during his tenure as South African captain.
