Montevideo, Oct 9 : Uruguay striker Cristhian Stuani has been ruled out of back-to-back friendlies against Peru for personal reasons, the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) said on Tuesday.
The 32-year-old, who plays his club football for Spanish second division side Girona, joins Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani and Barcelona striker Luis Suarez on the list of absentees for Celeste head coach Oscar Tabarez.
Cavani is suffering from a hip injury while Suarez has been given dispensation to receive treatment on his troublesome right knee. Stuani, capped 49 times for Uruguay, has netted seven times from as many league appearances for Girona this season. In a brief statement on its official website, the AUF gave no further details about Stuani's omission and did not name a replacement for the former Middlesbrough and Espanyol player.
The Celeste will host Peru in Montevideo on Friday before travelling to Lima for a return clash against the same opponents four days later. (XINHUA)
