Accra, Oct 5 : The vetting committee of Ghana FA's Normalization Committee (NC) on Friday cleared six candidates to contest in the upcoming presidential election.
They are Amanda Clinton, George Ankamah, George Afriyie, Kurt Okraku, Fred Pappoe, and Nana Yaw Amponsah. One other aspirant, Wilfred Kweku Osei, a former management committee member of the Black Stars, however, failed to make the final list of contestants, following the recommendations of the vetting committee.
Osei was considered one of the leading candidates vying for the FA president slot. In all, 48 candidates have been certified to battle for various positions, including the executive council of the FA.
The GFA presidential election will be held on Oct. 25. The winner will replace Kwesi Nyantakyi who is serving a FIFA life ban following the airing of a documentary last year which exposed bribery and corruption in the administration of football in Ghana. The investigative piece captured several corrupt activities by referees, and some football officials.(XINHUA)
