Incheon, Sep 27 : India's ace shuttler Parupalli Kashyap entered the Korea Open men's singles semi-finals after beating former world no 2 Denmark’s Jan O Jorgensen, here on Friday.
Kashyap outclassed his opponent Jorgensen 24-22 21-8 in a contest which lasted for 37 minutes. He had last played Jorgensen five years ago at the Denmark Open. In the first game, the former world No 2 gave a tough challenge to Indian shuttler. However, Kashyap showed his composure and won the game 24-22.
The 33-year-old shuttler came out with a solid performance in the second game and gave no chance to his rival. In the end, he won the second game by 21-8, sealing his spot in the semis.
This is Kashyap's second semi-final of the season. Earlier, in March this year he had reached the last four at the India Open Super 500 tournament. The 2014 Commonwealth Games gold-medallist will now face two-time world champion Kento Momota of Japan on Saturday.
P Kashyap, husband of Saina Nehwal, is the lone Indian left in fray in BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament after the ouster of star shuttlers PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, Sai Praneeth in the first-round. (UNI)
