Chengdu, China, Sep 27: Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria crashed out of the ATP Chengdu Open Friday, slumping to a 7-5, 6-7 (9), 6-7 (3) quarterfinal loss against Kazakh Alexander Bublik.
It took Bublik two hours and 31 minutes to pass No. 4 seed who beat Roger Federer of Switzerland to advance into his first semifinal of the US Open earlier this month. The 22-year-old Kazakh saved two match points in the second set tie-break, which changed the trend of the game.
"It's been a good week for me and beating Grigor is a great achievement for me. The second set tie-break was tough. I never thought about being match points down, but just playing my own game and serving well," Bublik said.
Bublik will face South African Lloyd Harris in the next match, who beat Joao Sousa of Portugal 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4.
"It feels unbelievable right now. I have been playing extremely well since getting into the main draw and I am really finding my tennis," Harris said. (UNI-Xinhua)
