Anshan, Sep 9: Nineteen-year-old Zhang Yifan celebrated her first national title after coming from behind to beat veteran Zhang Yufei in the women's 200m butterfly at the Chinese Autumn Swimming Championships here on Monday.
Hot favorite Zhang Yufei, bronze medalist in 2015 FINA World Championships, led the first half of the 200m butterfly final but Zhang Yifan took the lead in the next half of race and snatched her first national title in a time of two minutes 07.87 seconds, 1.63 seconds faster than her previous personal best. Zhang Yufei had to concede to a silver medal 2:08.03 and Lu Liying finished third 2:08.89.
Ji Xinjie claimed his third gold medal of the meet as he won the men's 800m freestyle 8:01.65; Zhang Ruixuan sealed the victory in the men's 200m breaststroke 2:11.28 and He Junyi sprinted fastest in the men's 100m freestyle 48.81.
Local star Wang Jianjiahe bagged her fifth gold from the meet as she joined the winning team in the 4X200m freestyle relay 8:01.00.
Held from September 4 to 12, the championship is considered a rehearsal for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games with morning final competition format.
A total of 522 swimmers took part in the meet, with 278 male and 244 female participants from 25 teams. (UNI-Xinhua)
