Beijing, Sep 8 : Former world number one and seven Grand Slams winner American Venus Williams will receive the first wild card from China Open.
It will be the 39-year-old's seventh participation in the China Open.
Venus won seven Grand Slam singles Championships in her career, including five Wimbledon titles and two US Opens. She was also the gold medalist in women's singles at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and first topped the world in February 2002.
In 2017, Venus reached the finals at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, reached the top four at the US Open, winning the runner-up in the final, and rose to fifth place at the end of the year. The best result of Venus' six previous women's singles competitions in the China Open was the last eight in 2005, and she entered the top 16 in 2014. (UNI-XINHUA)
