Chandigarh, Sept 8 : AG Club got the better of Indo-Tibetan Border Police by 4-3 in the semi-final of the Hockey Championship here on Sunday. They will now meet SGGH Club in the final on Monday.
AG Club went all out as they placed them in a strong position by taking a 2-0 lead at the end of 17th minutes of play. They forced a penalty corner in the 11th minute and Gaurav converted it to give AG Club 1-0 lead.
Maintaining their pressure, AG Club doubled the margin through a field goal scored by Tarandeep in the 17th minute.
Down by 2-0, ITBP reorganised their game and launched all out attack and within two minutes they were rewarded as G Rasu scored a field goal in the 19th minute. It was Jaswindeer who restored parity for ITBP by scoring a goal through penalty corner.
\\\\AG Club again swung into action and initiated a number of moves to score. In the 47th minute Angad Singh scored a field goal to place his team 3-2 ahead. Balwinder made it 4-2 by scoring a field goal in the 57tj minute. Jaswinder reduced the margin for ITBP with a field goal in the 59th minute.
Earlier, in the first semi-final, SGGS Hockey Club ousted Central Industrial Security Force by 4-3.
Amandeep was the star performer for SGGSH Club as accounted for the first three goals for SGGSH Club. He struck in the third,, seventh and 18th minutes. CISF opened their account in the 26th minute through Sahgram Chou.
Maninder further increased SGGSH Club margin to 4-1 in the 28th minute. CISF scored two more goals but could not extricate his team from the jaws of defeat. Harpreet (38th) and Prince (59th) contributed a goal each for CISF.(UNI)
